My Life in Pink & Green

What's it about?
Twelve-year-old Lucy Desberg is a natural problem solver. After the local homecoming queen shows up at her family's struggling drugstore with a beauty disaster that Lucy helps to fix, Lucy has a long line of makeover customers for every school dance and bat mitzvah. But all the makeup tips in the world won't help save the pharmacy. If only she could find a way to make the pharmacy the center of town again—a place where people want to spend time, like in the old days. Lucy dreams up a solution that could resuscitate the family business and help the environment, too. But will Lucy's family stop fighting long enough to listen to a seventh-grader?

"I wish I'd had a friend like Lucy Desberg when I was in seventh grade!  Smart, funny, and resourceful. Tweens will love this fresh, sunny multi-generational tale. "
- Heather Vogel Frederick, author of The Mother-Daughter Book Club Series

A few things you can do to help the planet:

  • Turn off the light when you leave the room.
  • Carry a reusable bag with you so that you don't need to get plastic bags at the grocery store or drug store or any store! I carry a hot pink ChicoBag with me at all times.
  • Use both sides of a piece of paper.
  • Recycle, Recycle, Recycle! Check with your town to learn more about the local recycling program where you live.
  • Instead of buying bottled water, buy a reusable water bottle and keep refilling it.
  • Carpool with friends instead of going alone in your own car.
  • Take public transportation or walk if you can.
